It's easy to groan when your other half suggests getting on with the house maintenance. Cleaning out the gutters and all those other jobs we love to hate doesn't seem like the most fun way to spend an afternoon. But there are some good things about maintenance that might help to motivate you, or at least put you in a better mood when you are doing it.

Little and often makes it easy
The good news is that you can make it easier to keep on to of all those maintenance jobs. Things like weeding, cleaning and repairs can be made much simpler if you take a little and often approach. If you are trying to charge through the entire list that has been building for a year, stop. Instead, take a small amount of time each month to deal with one or two specific issues. You’d be surprised how much you can get done in this time. Two hours a month can be enough to clean the windows, de- mold your bathroom, or even paint that fence in the garden.
If you’ve just bought a new house, you’re probably super excited to move in and get settled in. However, before you start arranging your furniture, you might have to do some decoration and maintenance work. These jobs can be beneficial in the long run.
