Most of us think that being young means that we're not prone to sickness and we have much stronger stamina and health than the elders. But because we are care-free and have much energy to do whatever we want to do, we end up having an unhealthy lifestyle. Smoking, drinking, lack of sleep, junk foods and other factors can have massive effects on our health. Blood clot and high blood cholesterol can be associated with a similar factor: Excess Sitting.

Did you know that even an extended period of sitting can be dangerous to our health? As I said in my previous post, you can develop blood cloth by spending lots of time sitting in a confined space wherever we are or whatever we do (like sitting in a car, long-distance plane trips, sitting on our desk for more than hours).
A blogger is just one of the people who's in the risk of having blood clots because of the longer times they spend typing away for hours. Sometimes it could take long days to clear backlogs. Even playing video games that involve sitting in front of the computer that sometimes could take 6-8 hours (yes! computer addicts do that).
Have you heard thrombocyte before? It plays a crucial role in forming of a blood clot. It helps slow or stops bleeding to heal wounds. You can hear about thrombocyte typically from health professionals or by reading from medical books and even on resources online.

If you are working for at your office all day or even just typing on your laptop at home or in a long-distance trip the risk of developing blood clot is higher. The longer you are immobile in the same position for too long is the factor that could lead you to have a serious health problem which will affect your life.
How will you reduce the risk of blood clots?
- Stacy active. You should take breaks from sitting walk around from time to time (every 2-3 hrs will do). If you are on travel, try to move your legs and stretch your muscles while you're sitting.
- Exercise: Don't forget to have a daily routine of exercise for your muscles and to keep fit.
- Standing desk at work. It will improve your posture, relieve back pain and helps circulates your blood very well.
- Live Healthy. Quit smoking or avoid secondhand exposure, reduce stress, avoid too much drinking of alcoholic beverages, drink lots of water and eat a balanced, healthy diet.
But wait..there's more!
Aside from having too much belly fat and can lead to obesity, extended sitting or prolonged sitting can also link with high blood pressure. According to Andrea LaCroix, Ph.D. (director of the Women's Health Center of Excellence at the University of California in San Diego USA, 'It has been linked to cardiovascular events like heart attack, heart disease death, overall death, and death from cancer."
