Are you someone who enjoys learning how to make stuff – especially when it is something useful or fun, or which can save you money? If so, then one thing you may want to try is making your own cosmetics. Whether it's hair, skin, or luxurious treats for bath time, there are actually lots of things you can make yourself which can be even better than shop bought alternatives – and at a fraction of the price!
If you are interested in learning how to make different varieties of all of these types of beauty products in detail, you can find some fantastic tutorials and ideas by checking out DIY Experience.
Here are four things you may be buying now, but could soon be replacing with your own unique creations!
Bath Bombs

Who doesn't love bath bombs? Colorful, scented bath water, perhaps even with an added touch of glitter? What's not to love! However, they can be quite expensive, and a lot of people tend to think of them as one of those things that is a bit too indulgent to buy for themselves, only using ones they receive as gifts.
In actual fact, it is easy and inexpensive to make your own, and you probably already have most or all of the ingredients. The fizz and structure comes from baking soda and salts (regular salt works fine but Epsom salts are best as they will also soothe your muscles). The color comes from food coloring. Scented oils can be used for fragrance, and you can even add eyeshadow or glitter to create different effects.
Body Scrubs
A good exfoliating body scrub can leave your skin glowing. It can also improve circulation, and is essential if you are preparing to apply fake tan, as it will remove dead skin cells the tan would otherwise stick to, causing patches.
There are lots of things you can use to make body scrubs using at-home ingredients, so why not look for a recipe that suits your skin type and get concocting!
Face Masks

A face mask can be a luxury treat, but ironically, the more expensive a product is, the closer it tends to be to something you can make at home with natural ingredients! All kinds of things can be used depending on your skin, from soothing oatmeal and honey to refreshing tea tree oil.
Hair Conditioning Treatments
Rich deep conditioning treatments can help all kinds of hair problems, from damage caused by coloring or over-styling, through to frizz. Both normal and leave-in conditioners can be made from easy-to-find ingredients such as coconut oil, green tea, aloe vera, raw honey and argan oil, and you can find recipes to suit your hair type and knock up a batch whenever your hair needs a bit of extra TLC.
There is a huge array of recipes around the web to help you make these beauty products (and more) to your own specifications, and of course, there is also plenty of room to experiment and come up with your own unique blends!
