There are few things
worse than noticing a smell that you don’t like over and over again. While the
scent you are picking up may not be around all the time, it certainly makes its
presence known when it wants to, and this is usually just as you think that
it’s gone. Living with bad smells is never a pleasant experience, with most
people wanting to have a home that is fresh, not smelly. To help you out with
this, this post will be exploring some of the most common areas to create nasty
odours in your home, giving you the chance to get them into shape.
Drains & Pipes
The drains in your
kitchen will have to deal with a lot of abuse, often having solid matter sent
down with the water these pipes are designed for. Unfortunately, as time goes
on, this will slowly start to leave residue in the system, eventually making it
impossible for water to flow. Before it reaches the point of needing a sewer repair company, though, it will start
to smell. To avoid this, it’s worth spending some time each week cleaning the
drains in your home, with bleach doing most of the work for you.
Mold & Damp
Some homes aren’t as
good at dealing with things like damp as others. With some buildings being very
susceptible to this sort of issue, it can be easy to find yourself in a place
with a lot of mold. While this doesn’t present much of a threat to you, it can certainly
produce some nasty smells, and this is something that most people will want to
avoid. Keeping on top of something like this is as simple as cleaning your
windows and walls as often as you can.
Organic Matter
When organic matter is
left uncleaned, it will often start to create some very nasty smells. Of
course, though, you don’t always have control over this, and it might not be
until the scent kicks in that you realise something is hidden away. Chimneys,
for example, can often trap birds, unfortunately causing them to die. Once a
bird begins to decay, the smell will easily travel around the whole home, as
most chimneys are designed to touch each room.
Food
While it falls under the
same category as organic matter, food is an issue that needs to be solved on
its own. When perishable foods find their way to the
backs of cupboards or fridges, they will quickly lose their freshness, and it
won’t be long until a smell appears. If your kitchen is small, it can be very
hard to find the source. This makes it worth spending some time each month
cleaning the food storage in your home.
With all of this in
mind, you should be feeling ready to take on the challenge of ridding your home
of all of its nasty smells. There are some scents which can’t be gotten rid of,
and these will usually come when you have teenagers living with you, making it
something you just have to live with. Since we do need to live in a clean environment, why not try the best air purifier and humidifier combo to maintain clean air within your house and meet your family needs.
