Falling into bad eating habits is something that’s easily done in today’s society. A combination of busy lives that require no end of multitasking along with the never-ending bombardment of fast food chains, take away places, and convenient, processed foods that claim to make our lives easier.
However, although these things may be okay once in a while, they’re certainly not things that will bring about a healthy lifestyle, body or mind, so it’s really important that we start becoming more aware of what we’re putting into our bodies and look at developing better habits - especially around food.
If you thought that it’s going to take too much time, energy and money to start eating better, then you may be surprised to know just how quick, easy, and affordable it can be, and that actually eating junk and processed food is going to cost you a lot more money and certainly won’t allow you to see the health benefits that you get from eating healthy.
In this post, we’re going to share with you some of the ways that you’ll find it easier than you think to eat better.
Healthy food costs less:
Whilst many people may think that eating healthy costs more money, it's actually cheaper than eating unhealthy food because you can buy fresh produce from a supermarket that's in season and is also full of nutrients needed by the body so if you buy this in bulk then you're spending far less on fresh produce than you would be on processed food that cost a great deal more and it doesn't have the same benefits to your health as fresh food does.
Many people are under the illusion that fresh produce costs more than processed food, but this isn't true and if they're only comparing organic food then they are always going to be able to find things that are more expensive, but this is also true of processed foods that are vegan or vegetarian and considered to be more healthy options.
The best way to take care of your health is always to eat fresh produce whether it's vegetarian, plant-based, or meat-based - fresh is always best.
Also, if you’re switching to something like a Keto diet, then make sure you’re getting the right nutrients through supplements. Something like Beta Hydroxybutyrate is great for keto diets.
You can save time by planning:
If you're worried that cooking fresh every day will will take up too much of your time and that you don't have enough time to do this, then the way around this and to save more time by cooking fresh is actually to plan and prep your food in advance.
The way to do this best is by setting up a calendar at the beginning of each week and choosing a few recipes that you like and then adding those to your calendar. Once you have the recipes for each day of the week then you can choose the ingredients in your weekly shop at the supermarket and this way you're not only saving money by buying things that you actually need and that will be used up, but you're reducing food waste and also saving yourself a lot of time by prepping the food in advance so that you don't have to come home and cook a whole meal every night or risk falling into the trap of buying takeaways or fast food.
