School trips give children the opportunity to explore the world around
them and put what they’ve learned into practice. They can gain new, unique
experiences and create lasting memories with their friends. There’s much more
to school trips too. For example, they teach children how to present themselves
when outside of their school environment. A nursery in Amersham has shared more on
the benefits of school trips for children with us below.
Taking Responsibility
When on a school trip, children go out and represent their school. It’s
their duty to uphold a positive image and not misrepresent themselves and their
peers. This can teach them about responsibility and to be mindful of their
behaviour.
Open-Mindedness
There’s so much that you can learn by being surrounded by the same people in the same environment. Travelling opens children to new ideas and ways of thinking that are different to their own. At the same time, they can develop respect for others’ ideas and their cultures.
Experiential Learning
Hands-on learning opportunities are great for children that have a
kinaesthetic learning style. They are able to experiment and learn by getting
stuck in.
Broaden Subject Knowledge
Teachers are ace at their jobs but are limited to teaching what’s on the curriculum. On school trips, children can meet industry experts and pick their brains with the questions that they’ve always wanted to ask.
Social Skills
Trips also take children out of their comfort zone and into the real
world where they can meet new people and learn different things from them. This
can help with their confidence and teach them social skills.
A Chance to Build Memories
Children are only children once and school trips can give them lots of memories to look back on with their friends when they are all grown up.
